Our Structure

Mechel PAO is a vertically integrated company. Mechel is the core company with subsidiaries and dependents, which together with their affiliates form a holding, also named Mechel.

Mechel’s Board of directors determines the company’s strategy. Enterprises whose assets are consolidated within Mechel PAO, work under operational administration of managing companies, differentiated as the Group’s chief business segments. 

Two key segments are mining, which includes production of coal, iron ore concentrate and coke, and steel, which includes production and processing of steel and its alloys. The third one is power, which includes heat and electricity producers.

The mining segment is administered by the Mechel Mining managing company, the steel segment is administered by Mechel-Steel managing company, and the power segment is managed by Mechel-Energo. Managing directors head the production assets.

Mechel Mining Management Company OOO

Goals

Mining segment of Mechel (Mechel Mining) includes production and sales of coking coal concentrate, iron ore concentrate and coke, which are chief raw material for production of steel and steam coal. Apart from providing for the needs of steel and power segments, the company sells significant volumes of raw materials to third-party consumers.

Goals

The business of Mechel’s steel segment includes manufacturing of rolled products from carbon steel and specialty steels, flat stainless steel products, structural shapes, high value-added steel products, including hardware and stampings, as well as the production of billets.

Power segment

Mechel Energo OOO

Goals

Mechel’s power activities allow the Group to sell part of produced steam coal, profit from supplies of end product to third parties on the free market and supply the Group’s enterprises with electricity.

Mecheltrans Management Company OOO

Goals

Ownership of such transport capacities allows the company to save costs. Mechel is therefore less dependent on fluctuations on the transport market and can form a flexible supply schedule tailored to the clients’ needs.

Sales
Goals

One of Mechel’s key competitive advantages lies in its own flexible and ramified sales network, as well as a well thought-out sales policy. Representatives of the Group’s sales companies work directly with the ultimate consumer and fulfill any order regardless of volume.
