Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant supply rails to Moscow metro

30April2019
Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (ChMK PAO, MOEX: CHMK, part of Mechel Group) won the tender for the rails supply to the Moscow subway system.

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant will ship 23,500 tonnes of rail products for redevelopment of existing tracks, and construction of new stretches. The first deliveries are planned in May 2019.

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant produces rails up to 100 meters in length, which are used on speed railroads with traffic up to 250 km/h. The plant is the only facility in Russia to use the technology of hardening rails in organic polymer, which lends the rails high performance characteristics - strength and wear resistance. Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant has been producing rails since 2014. During this period, the plant has shipped about 1 million tonnes of rail products.
