Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant produces 2.5 million tonnes of rolls at the universal rolling mill

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (ChMK PAO, MOEX: CHMK, part of Mechel Group) has produced 2.5 million tonnes of rolls and a million tonnes of rails since the universal rolling mills launch.

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant’s universal rolling mill produces various types of sections. Since its launch in 2013, the mill produced 2.5 million tonnes of rolls, including rails and beams of various configurations. Rails account for one million tonnes, or 40%, of the mill’s total output. Different types of rails are used in railway construction, including high-speed railroads, metro railways, and turnout switches.

Over 70% of the total rail output was delivered to Russian Railways for building new railroads and upgrading the existing ones throughout the country. Other consumers include large industrial enterprises such as plants, cargo ports, etc.

In addition, Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant’s rails were used for the construction of low-noise tracks on Moscow Metro’s Central Circle and reconstruction of the metro’s Circle line.

I- and H-beams and channels produced at the universal rolling mill are used in construction. Special profiles, including spars, different types of racks and Z-shapes, are used in heavy engineering and defense industry.

The universal rolling mill’s products are in demand in Russia and exported to Azerbaijan, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Hungary, Great Britain, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and the Czech Republic.

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant’s universal rolling mill is a modern integrated facility producing high-quality sections and rails. The mill’s product range includes various types of rails, I- and H-beams, channels, and other profiles used in construction and engineering. The plant uses international state-of-the-art technologies for rolling, straightening, finishing and quality control in its production process.
