Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant ups beam sales to Europe

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (ChMK PAO, MOEX: CHMK, part of Mechel Group) expanded its beam product range. The plant mastered production of seven new profile types of I-beams for the European market.

The IPB, IPBL and IPE beams are manufactured in compliance with Europe’s DIN EN10025-2 standard. They are used in making slabs and columns, in frame-house and panel construction, in engineering and shipbuilding.

The beams were certified by TUV Rheinland as compliant with the requirements of the European Union’s regulations. This enables the plant to mark its products with the CE sign and sell them in Europe.

This year, Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant sold 11,000 tonnes of new IPE, IPB and IPBL types to Europe, and another 3,000 tonnes are due to be shipped before the end of the year. The plant’s rolled sections are marketed in Austria, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Serbia and the Czech Republic.

In total, the plant has mastered production of 18 types of construction beams compliant with European standards and plans to expand that number.

“We plan to increase sales of I-beams to Europe and expand our sales geography by mastering output of two new steel grades for France, Estonia and Scandinavian states,” the plant’s sales director Vadim Shalygin noted.
