Experts from Koreas POSCO Visit Yakutugol

A group of experts from South Koreas POSCO company came with a working visit to Yakutugol Holding Company AO (part of Mechel Group).

Such trips to Mechel’s mining facilities in Yakutia are a standard practice to keep the company’s partners informed of its current operations as well as future work perspectives.

The delegation headed by POSCO’s vice president and head of coal procurement group Kang Sung Wook was welcomed at Yakutugol’s Neryungrinsky Open Pit — the largest in the Far East. Yakutugol’s officials detailed the facility’s mining volumes, equipment and technical upgrade program. The guests saw how the mining equipment and staff work in difficult climatic conditions.

The South Korean delegation also toured the washing plant, where they were shown its coal processing technologies as well as the product quality control system.

The visit concluded with POSCO representatives meeting Elgaugol’s executives who informed them of how the Elga deposit, Mechel’s key investment project, is being developed.

“We have been working together with POSCO, one of the world’s steelmaking majors, for many years now. It is always a pleasure to welcome our partners, to demonstrate our operations and give vivid visual confirmation of our status as a reliable supplier of high-quality products,” Director of Mechel Mining Management’s mining assets in Yakutia Igor Khafizov noted.
