Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant makes rolls for major oil refinery project

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (ChMK PAO, MOEX: CHMK, part of Mechel Group) produced 2,700 tonnes of beams for construction of Tatnefts oil refinery complex in Nizhnekamsk.

The TANECO Oil Refining and Petrochemical Complex became the domestic oil industry’s first large-scale grass root project over the past 30 years. The next-generation oil refinery will provide the most profound oil processing, up to 99.2%. TANECO is Russia’s first oil refinery to stop producing heavy residue as an end product and shifted toward producing only light oils. The project’s construction is funded by Russia’s Investment Fund as part of state-private partnership.

Mechel’s rolls are used for making steel structures at the construction of the complex’s second stage, which is due to increase the complex’s oil refining capacity to 14 million tonnes.

The 40Sh2 beam used in this construction was made at Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant’s universal rolling mill from ST3SP and S255 steels used for making construction structures. The plant also supplied this construction project with rolled flats and sections. The rolls were supplied by Mechel’s sales subsidiary, Mechel-Service.
