Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant masters production of new construction beam type

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (ChMK PAO, MOEX: CHMK, part of Mechel Group) expanded its range of H- and I-beams which are highly in demand in the construction industry.

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant’s universal rolling mill launched output of a new 16B2 beam. The hot-rolled I-beam can endure high stress and is used in building prefab and frame housing as well as bridges.

All of Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant’s I-beam line has certificates of compliance with the new standard valid since May 1, 2018. As of now, the plant has mastered production of over 60 beam types, including four types of rails.

“We are gradually expanding the mill’s product range. By the end of 2018 we plan to start production of 20 more types of section rolls, including two rail types. In order to manufacture each new product, the mill is equipped with a separate jig,” Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant’s Managing Director Anatoly Schetinin commented.
