German experts examine industrial waste recycling technologies at Mechel-Materials

Mechel-Materials (part of Mechel Group) hosted a delegation of German producers of waste recycling equipment and technologies.

The visit was aimed at comparing notes in industrial waste recycling. The visit was initiated by the Russo-German Foreign Trade Chamber, with Chelyabinsk Region’s economic development ministry acting as host. Representatives of 15 German companies toured Mechel-Materials’ modern grinding-mixing complex that has no peers in Russia. This complex produces mineral supplements to lend additional durability to construction mixes, asphalt and concrete.

The grinding-mixing complex uses Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant’s blast-furnace slag as raw material. This technology enables the plant to reduce waste and make its steelmaking process more environment-friendly.

The German guests noted the products’ high quality and compliance with the strictest sanitary and hygienic requirements.

“The grinding-mixing complex is our plant’s newest and largest production facility. Our guests were pleasantly surprised that we possess such technologies that increase our efficiency and reduce the amount of waste. Germany is a leader in industrial waste recycling, and this high expert opinion is very valuable to us,” Mechel-Materials OOO’s Director Nikolay Parkhomchuk noted.
