Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant renovates filters at two major steelmaking units

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (ChMK PAO, MOEX: CHMK) renovated gas cleaners at two units of its oxygen converter workshop. These repairs will ensure their compliance with high ecological requirements.

The repairs were made at the workshop’s steel processing unit and steel billet concaster. They are equipped with a modern dust and gas cleaning complex and closed-cycle water supply that enable them to work with maximum filtering efficiency.

Experts conducted a sweeping review of the two units, replaced the gas cleaning systems’ primary components and steam pump engine, streamlined the units’ aspiration system.

“The oxygen converter workshop has undergone a major reconstruction over the past few years. Nearly all key units were replaced, and we have put outdated units out of commission. The workshop currently includes three converters and an electric arc furnace as well as four concasters, all equipped with efficient environment-protection systems that are systematically renovated and repaired,” Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant PAO’s Managing Director Anatoly Schetinin noted.
