Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant begins output of new products for wagonbuilding

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (ChMK PAO, MOEX: CHMK) produced a pilot batch of Z-sections Z310, a new type of shaped rolls for the transport industrys purposes. The new project is aimed at the wagonbuilding market.

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant’s universal rolling mill is producing the new section type. Z-sections for wagonbuilding are produced from high-strength steel which guarantees wagons long service life and stress resistance. These shapes’ important characteristic is their complex Z-shaped form. The universal rolling mill’s equipment, which uses state-of-the-art rolling, quenching, correction, processing and quality control technologies, ensures high dimensional accuracy.

“Russian wagonbuilding and wagon repair facilities will be prime customers of Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant’s new product. This type of rolls is in high demand on the market,” Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant PAO’s Managing Director Anatoly Schetinin noted.

The plant produces sections and shapes since 2013 when the universal rolling mill was launched. As of today, the plant mastered production of over 50 shape and section types as well as four types of rails. The plant supplies its steel products to Russian Railways, Russian steel structure producers, wagonbuilders and steelworks, as well as exports them primarily to the European Union.
