Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant earns European certificate for bulk ingots

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (ChMK PAO, part of Mechel Group, MOEX: CHMK) earned the DNV GL certificate for its bulk ingots from specialty steels. The certificate enables the plant to supply its products to the European market. This type of ingots is produced by exceedingly few facilities worldwide.

The certificate was granted following an audit held by experts from Europe’s certifier DNV GL. During their examination of its production facilities, the plant proved that its bulk ingots made from carbon, carbon-manganese and alloy steels were compliant with DNV GL’s high standard requirements.

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant mastered production of 50-tonne ingots from specialty steels in summer 2017. The plant supplies them as billets to Urals Stampings Plant, also part of Mechel Group, which has mastered production of bulk forgings.

The DNV GL certificate enables the plants to supply their bulk ingots and forgings to the European Union without hindrance. These products are highly in demand in various engineering industries.
