Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant Certifies New Types of I-Beam for Sales to Europe

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant (ChMK PAO, part of Mechel Group) expanded the range of products it offers to the European market. Two new types of I-beam produced by ChMKs universal rolling mill were included in the certificate of compliance with the European Union regulations.

The current certificate for products to be sold for the European construction industry now includes the IPB and IPBL beams. These steel products are in compliance with the DIN 1025 standard. The first batches of beams have already been shipped to Germany, Belgium and the Czech Republic.

Experts from the German-based certifier TUV Rheinland gave their approval for expanding ChMK’s product list following a witness audit, which involved all key technological processes and confirmed the high quality of the plant’s products. This certificate enables ChMK to mark its products with the CE mark and supply them to EU member states.

ChMK earned the certificate of its construction product range’s compliance with European norms in 2015, with the list including the plant’s long and flat rolls and shapes. The certificate is valid until August 2018. In Europe, ChMK sells over 20 profiles of beams, rebar and flats.

“These new types of I-beams are in demand from European constructors. Consumers have already noted the high quality of our products as compared to other suppliers, and this will help us consolidate our position in the market,” ChMK PAO’s sales director Vadim Shalygin noted.
