Mechel is committed to playing an active part in maintaining and improving the infrastructure of the regions in which we do business.
For example, in Zheleznogorsk-Ilimsky, in the Irkutsk Oblast, Mechel allocated money to renovate the city’s housing and public utilities and to buy school and medical equipment. Specifically, we funded the acquisition of two resuscitation unit ambulances for the regional hospital.
In the Kemerovo Oblast, Mechel has provided funds to build housing in Anzhero-Sudzhensk over the past several years, and we established a fund for the cities of Mezhdurechensk and Myski. The purpose of the fund is to finance programs approved by local government authorities (including social programs), to hold sporting events, holiday celebrations, and other public cultural events, to carry out projects to improve the city, and to maintain municipal property.
