Urals Stampings Plant sets new monthly production recordUrals Stampings Plant (Uralkuz PAO, part of Mechel Group, MOEX: URKZ) has set an absolute monthly production record. In January the plant put out over 11,500 tonnes of products, reaching the highest monthly maximum in the plant’s history.
The record results were primarily due to an increase in the output of rail axles. To make this type of products, in December 2017 the plant launched an upgraded hammer line, which became the third technological line for rail axle production at Urals Stampings Plant.
An upgrade of a previously low-load production line, which included overhauls of a forging and a stamping hammers and reconstruction of a reheating furnace for heating billets up to two meters long, also helped increase production volumes. The line is equipped with two manipulators with a hoisting capacity of 1.5 tonnes. The unit is due to produce 4,000 rail axles a month.
“Over the past year, the plant has significantly increased production of rail axles, which required us to launch new production facilities. This helped step up the overall output of axle billets. We plan to continue increase manufacturing of this product type which is much in demand,” Urals Stampings Plant PAO’s Managing Director Viktor Matsenko noted.
