Urals Stampings Plant starts shipping large-size forgingsUrals Stampings Plant (Uralkuz PAO, part of Mechel Group, MOEX: URKZ) began shipping bulk forgings made from 50-tonne ingots. This product is highly in demand in the engineering industry. This year, the plant has sold some 1,500 tonnes of such forgings.
In order to manufacture bulk forgings up to 1,000 mm in diameter, Urals Stampings Plant upgraded its forge and press shop which helped increase a product’s maximum weight and size. The plant is making these forgings from 50-tonne ingots produced by Mechel Group’s Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant. These products are made by very few companies in the world.
The new forgings are both used by Mechel Group’s own facilities and exported to Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. The plant plans to expand its market further.
“Making large-size forgings is a promising prospect for Urals Stampings Plant. Few Russian facilities can make these products as it requires specialized equipment. Soon our product range will expand with forgings from two new steels,” Urals Stampings Plant PAO’s Managing Director Viktor Matsenko noted.
